DARPA Grand Challenge

During his last semester at Carnegie Mellon, Chris was part of the "Red Team," CMU's entry in the DARPA Grand Challenge, a competition to build an autonomous vehicle that could negotiate 132 miles of the Nevada desert. After returning from Europe, and before starting with Amazon, Chris attended the National Qualifying Event in Orange County California and the competition itself, in Nevada. The CMU teams finished second and third, behind Stanford's "Stanley." Here we see "Sandstorm,"CMU's older vehicle.
