December 2010
It's hard to believe that December has come again! Let's take a look back at the past year.
We spent Christmas 2009 in Seattle with Chris and Sarah. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. This year they will join us in Webster, NY, for Christmas with both Sue's and Sarah's families.
In June, Sarah was selected as a participant on the hit TLC TV show What Not to Wear. The hosts surprise the participant, criticize their current wardrobe, teach them some better choices, and give them a $5,000 gift card to buy a new wardrobe. Sue flew to Seattle for the hit. We can't wait to see the show, which is scheduled to air on Friday, December 17, at 8:00pm on TLC.
In August we spent two weeks cruising in the North Channel of Lake Huron, one of the most beautiful cruising grounds in the world. It was our first time there since 2003 and it was great. The weather was excellent and we were able to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
On August 28, we joined more than 500,000 of our closest friends at Glenn Beck's Restoring Honor rally on the National Mall in Washington, DC. It was a moving and inspirational event that focused on what needs to be done to restore America's honor and that of our leaders. We are very glad that we went.
Tim participated in the Caribbean 1500 again this year, this time on the Aerodyne 47 Kiva out of Chicago. Unfortunately, after three days, the navigation electronics and autopilot failed, necessitating that the crew hand steer the boat to Bermuda, about 250nm away. Tim will rejoin the boat and crew on December 13 and help deliver her to St. Thomas.
Chris and Sarah continue to enjoy life in Seattle. They bought a house this year, a charming craftsman-style house first built in 1918. It's a cozy place with beautiful landscaping. Tim spent a week with them in October and helped them make a few improvements.
Sue's horse Clint suffered an unfortunate injury just before the show season opened and kept her on the sidelines this year. Thankfully, he has made a full recovery, and should be ready to compete again next year.
Our businesses continue to keep us busy. Tim's marine electronics business had its best year ever, including a couple of very big jobs. Interest in Sue's embroidery continues at a high level, and the demand for horse treats is increasing as the holidays approach.
It has been a satisfying year for us, and we hope for you too. Best wishes for an enjoyable holiday season, and for a challenging and rewarding new year. If your travels find you in the Detroit area, please stop and see us.
